Stubble Turnips

The white fleshed stubble turnip is an excellent catch crop which produces nutritious, highly palatable feed in just 12-14 weeks after sowing. The crop can be sown in the spring or later in the year after the cereal harvest. The variety Tyfon is ideally sown in the spring and utilised in the summer months when grass growth is declining. Tyfon’s growth habit is very leafy with some regrowth potential.

Another high performing variety, Vollenda has very high yields and dry matter. Its leaf to root ratio is 60:40 and it has excellent resistance to bolting. Very good early vigour makes it suitable for sowing in May for feeding in July and August, whereas sowings in August/September will deliver a feed crop between November and January when its good winter hardiness ensures palatability is retained. Good disease resistance also.
